FAQs
Questions, answered
Can’t find what you’re looking for? Give the team a call. We’re happy to help.
01How do we get started with a steel project?
Call us on 08 8280 6000, send an enquiry through our contact page, or drop into our Burton yard. Tell us what you’re building, roughly how big, and where it’s going. Plans, photos or a rough sketch help. We’ll talk through options and materials, then put together a free, no-obligation quote.
02How long does it take to get council approval?
It depends on your council, the type of structure and whether engineering is needed. Simple projects can be approved fairly quickly, but more complex ones take longer. We assess your project’s approval requirements up front, prepare the documentation for you and liaise with council directly to keep things moving. Ask us for a realistic timeframe for your specific project.
03Can you help with custom steel projects?
Absolutely. Our in-house fabrication team works in mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel, and we can help at every stage, from professional design drawings and prototyping through to engineering certification. If we don’t stock exactly what you need, we can make it.
04What is powder coating and why is it important for steel products?
Powder coating is a dry powder applied electrostatically and then cured under heat, so it flows and forms a protective skin that’s tougher than conventional paint. It makes steel more resistant to corrosion, chipping and scratching, and it gives a superior finish that lasts for years in Australian conditions. We have an onsite powder coating facility.
